Hunting Siphiwe
The Zuma apologists are at it again. It's like a tag-team event with every few weeks another Zuma acolyte stepping into the arena to do his thing for Dear Leader. This week it was the turn of former head of the SADF - Siphiwe Nyanda. Again we have the same lame-ass defence offered up for the former Deputy Prez. - you bastards in the Press turned a great man into a thief by kicking up such a fuss and not letting things take their natural course.
It takes a jackass with the moral compass of one of the "Friends of Jay-Z" to take a guilty verdict where the presiding Judge point-blank declared that there was "a generally corrupt-relationship" between Zuma and Shaik, and turn the controversy that follows into one focused on the "Media Witch hunt". What a joke! No, no dice you panderers to power - the Press called Jay-Z on his record and, as the saying goes, you will be known by the company you keep and in these two areas the oh-so-esteemed Jay-Z came up sadly wanting.
It always blows my mind the way these blowhards are so willing to rally around the rule of law and Constitutional supremacy when it suits them, but if the wind is blowing the other way then that same Constitution and Bill of Rights is not worth the paper it is written on. Save your moral outrage for another time Siphiwe, we all know the real reason why you're so worried about a Press witch-hunt. Heaven help you if you are caught in the cross hairs. Look at the company you kept at the trial you buffoon - Yengeni, the Shaik brothers - as I said you are known by the company you keep.
The op-ed itself is a laughable example of self-promotion and delusions of grandeur. With Nyanda and his corrupt band of brothers riding into the fray to slay the dragon that is Press excess. Give us all a break, who are you trying to kid? One wonders how Nyanda managed to run our defence force for so long when it's clear that his grasp on reality is tenuous at best. Muddying the water, Nyanda never once actually responds to the commentary that has been in the media with facts or a counterargument, instead he chooses to roll with it and accuse the Press of some grand conspiracy and a "trial by media" aimed at bringing down the artist formerly known as the Deputy Pres. Who is he trying to fool?
I did enjoy how he gave a hat tip to the Prez. ("the media had launched vitriolic attacks against Zuma and those who supported him. All, not just those who sang abominable insults against, and burned the effigies of the president of the ANC and the country, were castigated and called the “rowdy brigade”). Yeah Siphiwe, you know you dare not mess with the Main Man so you thought you'd pay homage to him before you went on to trash an easier target - the Media. And of course you couldn't resist another swipe at the Scorpions, how predictable - go take another big swig of that kool-aid before you next put pen to paper!
Until the time the "Friends of Jay-Z" are prepared to concede the fact that their idol was a caught in the middle of the biggest corruption scandal post-'94, why should the rest of us have to listen to their platitudes over the Press victimizing their boy. You can't have it both ways!
So, to Siphiwe Nyanda and with an honorary mention to Moe Shaik and Fikile Majola :
Go to hell.
