Plum Civil Service Jobs Pt.2
You may recall in an earlier post I talked about the big bucks flowing to the municipal manager of the Ehlanzeni district municipality in Mpumalanga (i.e R1.2m). Well, the full details concerning the level of "service" offered by this high-flying public official has finally made it to the light of day in a Finance24 report :
"Seventy-three percent of households in the district run by South Africa's highest-earning municipal manager enjoy no basic refuse removal. Nearly 60% have no sanitation services, and a third of the population of Ehlanzeni in Mpumalanga have no access to basic water... Thirty-six percent of households in the Ehlanzeni district municipality had no electricity and 9% no formal housing, according to latest Treasury statistics. More than 60% of households lived in poverty."
This kind of unrealistic pay has got to stop...watch this space for an interesting speech by Dr. Mamphela Ramphele.
