The Rev.
Clearly the Rev. doesn't feel the Ninth Commandment applies to politics -
"Among these were African Christian Democratic Party MP and Chief Whip in the National Assembly Louis Green, and ACDP KwaZulu-Natal MPL and leader Reverend Hawu Mbatha. Mbatha joined the newly-formed National Democratic Convention (Nadeco), giving it its first seat in the provincial legislature, while Green is believed to be planning to start a new party.
ACDP media director Reverend Selby Khumalo said the defection of Mbatha Green had taken the party by surprise.
"Particularly in the case of Rev Mbatha who, following recent media speculation, gave us assurances that he was not considering such a move.
The ACDP is a party where people discuss their problems in the spirit of Christian fellowship. We chose to trust him as we did Louis Green and never considered either to be a political opportunist."

"The Rev" (Mbatha) has a previous record for not being transparent about his real intentions. As SABC chairman he was cited in an auditors report as being an incompetent leader because he created factions within the organisation by presenting different versions of reality to different players. The most notable example of this was in his widely published dealings with the noted journalist Max Du Preez. Having told Max that his Job was safe in the afternoon and they were good friends, Mbatha walked down the hall into a meeting that he had convened to fire Max. Max was as surprised by this at the time as the ACDP were when the floor crossing shenanigan went down.
If the ACDP are to present the nation with incorruptable leaders they should learn to take these things into account during their selection process. Sometimes the CV that a man presents will not show the full aspects of his career development.
Max is one of SA's best journalists, known for his integrity. He was similarly besmirched by this man who did not have the courage of his convictions. Max is actually well known as a man who has the courage of his convictions.
Max du Preez and the ACDP are now aware of the nature of the man, will Ziba Jiyane learn a similar lesson? or do we have a situation where a man who crows about starting his party using the non-democratic method of floor crossing would be similarly disposed?
