Lets get this party started...
What better way to get the ball rolling than with a "celebrity"! That's right our boy JZ has the honour of making the first appearance on this here blog...
Woops sorry I meant THE JZ - local style. Although you could be forgiven for getting the two confused...even the title of the album "The Dynasty" seems pretty good for our man. While it seems the real fireworks are still to come, it has been a great show so far - political intrigue, spies, character assassination, the ANC Youth League (hell what party isn't good without those guys) - can it get even better? We'll be finding out in the next couple of weeks thats for sure.
Some quarters are saying that Zuma has never been found "guilty" of any crime regarding this whole Shaik corruption trial. This is true. However, let us look at the judgement in a different way...as a sum of all its parts. For Shaik to have been found guilty the Prosecution needed to prove there was a corrupt relationship between Shaik and Zuma. A relationship is by its very nature not unilateral but bilateral - it takes two to tango.
So if one part of the corruption equation is missing (ie. one party acted in a lawful manner) there can be no corruption on the part of the other party. Similarly if one party has been found to have acted in an illegal manner then both parties must have acted illegally.
When Zuma's supporters forward the "guilty until proven innocent" slogan they are following the Orwellian doublespeak principle of 2+2=5. Shaik is guilty + Zuma is innocent = the proven corrupt relationship. Sorry, do not pass go - return to Logic 101 class.
Either Shaik is innocent and therefore so is Zuma OR they are both guilty and need to be punished.
End of story...
